1. How do I start the process of scheduling with your office?
Contact our office at (888)872-8832 for further information.

2. What is the benefit of using a service instead of our own tech?
When you use our on-site mohs technician service, you are strengthening the histology aspect of your mohs practice as well as insulating your practice from unforeseen circumstances. Our full-time technicians perform mohs histology 5 days a week, year after year. Our efficiency and speed allows your office to maximize the time/mohs case ratio while our quality of work helps to protect your office from re-occurences. Our speed also allows your office to schedule more cases per mohs day which essentially justifies using us as your mohs technician solution.

3. Where do you service?
We are an ambitious company and want to work anywhere in the continental US where there is a regional need.

4. Do I need to provide a cryostat?
We provide all of the machinery and chemicals necessary to process in your office.

5. If I have my own equipment, is there a discount?
We encourage our clients to take advantage of the increased speed and efficiency which results when we use our own equipment.

6. Are your mohs technicians well trained and working full time?
Yes. All of our mohs techs go through a rigurous training program involving over all approx. 500+work hours of hands on training using our specific mohs protocol before they can start to process jobs for us. After that, they are continually monitored and attend quarterly all-day “continual training” meetings where we continue to educate them and refine their techniques. All our techs are full-time and carreer oriented in the field.

7. Where do you set up your lab?
We set our lab space up anywhere in your office that has an A/C outlet, 3-4 ft. of counter space, sink access, and is separate from the flow of work traffic. Typically, this is an exam room or nurses station, unless you already have a dedicated lab space.

8. Do you take care of CLIA documentation with regards to the mohs lab, or do I?
As part of our service, we provide your office with a mohs log, and keep all information CLIA requires for the mohs lab up to date in that notebook. The notebook stays at your office. Our technicians keep it updated.

9. Do you have your own CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) number?
CLIA currently does not have a lab number designation for mobile labs. CLIA numbers are site-specific. When we come to your office, we work under your CLIA number and the physician performing surgery is the laboratory director in charge of overseeing our work.

10. Do you perform special stains?
Currently we provide high quality H&E staining as our method of staining the tissue, but can set up other staining regiments upon request.

11. Do I keep the slides made at my office?
Yes. TRAVEL TECH will process your patient’s tissue, generate high quality mohs slides and accompanying map, and leave those at your office like any other mohs lab.

12. What happens to the tissue after processing?
Upon clear margins being pronounced by the physician for a given case, the tissue is thawed and disgarded in one of your office’s biohazard receptacles, unless you request to have the tissue sent out for permanents. Then we will place the tissue into the vessel you provide us for transport.

13. How do you charge?
We charge a flat rate per patient site. We do not charge any additional fees for travel etc. Call (888)872-8832 and we will be happy to give you specifics.

14. How can you make a profit without charging all the extra traveling expenses that the other tech services charge?
Our goal is to expand to regions where the need for a Mohs Tech service exists. We understand that our growth has a monetary cost. We have developed a system for expansion that is cost effective while establishing a new service region.

15. What forms of payment do you accept and what is the fee schedule?
We currently accept only checks and we will invoice your office with a net 30 term from the day of service.

16. How much notice do you need for scheduling?
Typically we need a minimum of two weeks notice but encourage you to call us if your in a bind. We will do everything we can to cover your mohs day(s)

17. What if the tech you have scheduled for my office calls in sick?
We have multiple backup technicians at the ready to cover our employees jobs who call in sick. Our CEO, CFO, President, and two regional area managers are all long time working mohs techs and act as backup to cover jobs.

18. Do we need a fume hood?
The high quality/low toxicity staining protocol that we use does not require a fume hood.

19. Do we have to sign a contract?
Yes. We have a service agreement that we require to be signed by you/your office prior to scheduling service dates. This agreement puts on paper all the terms you would expect between a client/service provider and ensures that our clients understand fully what the terms of service are.
